Our president, James R. "Jim" Dimel began in the construction business in 1964 while in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Cape Kennedy where he helped build the space center. Various missions took him to the Caribbean islands where he helped build tracking stations for the space craft.
Upon being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Jim ventured to Thailand and DaNang, Viet Nam where he was the administrator for two identical classified projects designed to keep United States aircraft from entering into Chinese air space. His tour was completed in 1968 at which time he returned to complete his degree at the University of Houston.
After graduation Jim worked for an apartment management and renovation company as Director of Management. This aspect of his career had him responsible for hiring managers, maintenance personnel, and security guards to keep the occupied units running efficiently. The second phase of his responsibilities were renovating older apartment units and seeing they were occupied with quality residents. Jim did this in Houston until deciding to open his own business in 1974.
Dimel Enterprises, Inc. was formed in July, 1974 and Jim has managed the company since. "We try to use the same contractors for our jobs, which makes the tasks at hand run more smoothly." Some of our contractors have been with us since inception.
Jim also has a thoroughbred racing stable and races his horses on the Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma circuits. His brood mares and babies are stabled at the ranch in Bremond, Texas and Sulpher, Louisiana.
